In the heart of 2024, Earthquake Lights, a four-piece rock outfit hailing from New York City, unveils their latest musical endeavor, ‘Heartbeat.’ The single, laden with emotion and introspection, draws inspiration from a deeply personal place—the loss of a vulnerable family member.
Lead singer Myles Rodenhouse delves into the complexities of loss, particularly the unpredictability and the fear of losing someone unexpectedly. He shares:
“It’s about that moment before the end – when you know it will end but do not know when exactly.”
The single’s arrangement incorporates a programmatic element, with the kick drum and bass mimicking the sound of a heart murmur. Drawing inspiration from Japanese classical composers, Rodenhouse infuses the melody with a profound sense of reflection and intimacy.
