This week we’re highlighting new music from Killer Mike, Queens of the Stone Age, and Sigur Rós.
Killer Mike – Michael
Killer Mike’s new album, Michael, was released on June 16, 2023 and is his first studio album in 11 years. The album is a collaboration with Chicago producer No I.D., and features a gospel-inspired sound. Featuring an impressive lineup of artists the album boasts collaborations with CeeLo Green, Mozzy, Young Thug, 6lack, Eryn Allen Kane, Jagged Edge, André 3000, Future, Currensy, 2 Chainz, Kaash Paige, Blxst, Fabo, El-P and Ty Dolla Sign. Killer Mike has said that the album is his way of honoring “the civil rights movement, the abolitionist movement, which gave us some of the most beautiful music ever.”

Queens of the Stone Age – In Times New Roman…
Queens of the Stone Age’s eighth studio album, In Times New Roman…, was released this week and features their signature blend of hard rock, desert rock, and stoner rock. Produced by Josh Homme and mixed by Mark Rankin, the album was recorded at Homme’s Pink Duck Studios in Burbank as well as Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio in Malibu, California. In Times New Roman… not only presents a dark and heavy musical experience, but also showcases Homme’s insightful songwriting and musicianship.

Sigur Rós – ÁTTA
Iceland’s Sigur Rós have returned with their first new album in 10 years. Produced by the band and Paul Corley, the album features keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson once again as he has rejoined the band for the first time since 2012’s Valtari. The album is a collection of ten songs that explore themes of love, loss, and hope and are characterized by Sigur Rós’s signature sound of ethereal vocals, lush instrumentation, and atmospheric arrangements. Jónsi said the band’s intention with the music was “to have minimal drums and for the music to be really sparse, floaty and beautiful.”
