3 New Albums Out This Week You Should Listen to Now: Fucked Up, Bass Drum of Death, and Complete Mountain Almanac
There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.
This week we’re highlighting new music from Fucked Up, Bass Drum of Death, and Complete Mountain Almanac.
Fucked Up – One Day
One Day is the sixth studio album from Canadian hardcore punk band, Fucked Up. Four-and-a-half years after their previous album, Dose Your Dreams, the band has shared their shortest album to date. Released via Merge Records, the album includes three singles that were released prior to the album’s release: the self-titled track, ‘Found,’ and ‘I Think I Might Be Weird.’
Standout Songs: Found, I Think I Might Be Weird, Nothing’s Immortal, One Day, Roar
Bass Drum of Death – Say I Won’t
Recorded with Patrick Carney of the Black Keys in Nashville, Say I Won’t is the first Bass Drum of Death album written, demoed, and recorded with his touring band instead of Barrett on his own. “My first two records were made entirely by me alone with my gear, my laptop, and a Snowball USB mic,” says Barrett. “They were just made quickly, cheaply, as an excuse to tour. I wanted to take my time with this record. Make something good that I was proud of in itself.”
Standout Songs: Find It, Head Change, Say Your Prayers, No Doubt, Say I Won’t, Too Cold To Hold
Complete Mountain Almanac – Complete Mountain Almanac
Composed as a musical collaboration between Rebekka Karijord, Jessica Dessner, Bryce Dessner & Aaron Dessner, Complete Mountain Almanac’s debut album features performances and co-production from Jessica’s twin brothers, and Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National. Broken down into 12 songs the tracks represent the 12 months of the year and the inherent healing cycle of nature.
Standout Songs: February, May, July
