There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.

This week we’re highlighting new music from HEALTH, Nicki Minaj, and Car Seat Headrest.

HEALTH – RAT WARS

RAT WARS, the sixth studio album by American noise rock band HEALTH, was released on December 7, 2023, through Loma Vista Recordings. Akin to a sonic grenade, the album melds an array of genres — industrial, electronic, noise, and punk — birthing an audacious and unique sound. Crafted under the guidance of producer Stint (Oliver Tree, Demi Lovato) and mixed by Lars Stalfors (SALEM, The Neighbourhood), this 12-track collection resonates as a sonic manifesto, delving into themes of societal disarray, climate jeopardy, and political division. As the band themselves describe on their Bandcamp page, It’s The Downward Spiral for people with at least two monitors and a vitamin D deficiency.”

Standout Songs: DEMIGODS, HATEFUL (Feat. SIERRA), CRACK METAL, UNLOVED, CHILDREN OF SORROW, ASHAMED, DSM-V

Pink Friday 2 embarks on a musical odyssey traversing a vast spectrum, from the hard-hitting hip-hop anthems of ‘Super Freaky Girl’ and ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze’ to the soulful R&B melodies of ‘Let Me Calm Down’ and the velvety pop undertones of ‘Fallin 4 U.’ Showcasing her collaborative prowess, Minaj enlists a star-studded lineup including Drake, J.
