There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.

This week we’re highlighting new music from Perfume Genius, Conway the Machine & Big Ghost Ltd, and Drake.

Perfume Genius – Ugly Season

Originally created to accompany a dance piece, Ugly Season is Mike Hadreas’ follow-up to one of 2020’s best albums, Set My Heart on Fire Immediately. With the help of his partner, Alan Wyffels, and producer Blake Mills, Perfume Genius once again has created a stunning collection of experimental pop music. Expect a reinvented Perfume Genius focused on the art and orchestral sounds of the avant-garde rather than giving his listeners an album that he has done before.

Standout Songs: Herem, Teeth, Pop Song, Eye in the Wall

Conway the Machine & Big Ghost Ltd – What Has Been Blessed Cannot Be Cursed

Conway the Machine is back doing what he does best… and that is rapping. What Has Been Blessed Cannot Be Cursed is the Buffalo rapper’s fourth album of 2022 and his third with Big Ghost (No One Mourns The Wicked from 2020 If It Bleeds It Can Be Killed from 2021). Ten tracks deep, the album is all Conway. Add in a couple of standout features from Method Man and Jae Skeese, and you have the making of a solid addition for summer listening.

Standout Songs: Salutations, It’s A Green Light, Y.B.C.M., Scared II Death ft Method Man

Drake – Honestly, Nevermind

Drake has long enjoyed the summer drop. Mix in his gift of releasing a surprise album with little to no warning, and you have the makings of an internet that is abuzz. Released only nine months after Certified Lover Boy, Drake has once again captured the zeitgeist with the release of his latest album, Honestly, Nevermind. 14 tracks deep, Honestly, Nevermind is a drastic departure from his previous 6 albums. With a myriad of house-leaning EDM beats, Drake has passed on his traditional formula and embraced a new path. Honestly, Nevermind will go down as Drake’s “club album.”

Standout Songs: A Keeper, Sticky, Massive, Tie That Binds, Jimmy Cooks (feat. 21 Savage)
