This week we’re highlighting new music from Neil Young & Crazy Horse, St. Vincent, and Maruja.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Fu##in’ Up

In 2023, Neil Young and Crazy Horse recorded a live set at Toronto’s Rivoli club, featuring nine tracks (with altered song titles) from the beloved 1990 album Ragged Glory. The album, titled Fu##in’ Up, showcases faithful renditions that extend the jams and emphasize Young’s yearning for a simpler life. The recording captures the essence of Young’s influence on underground rock and solidifies the album’s status as a classic.

St. Vincent – All Born Screaming

St. Vincent’s seventh studio album, All Born Screaming, released on April 26, 2024, via Total Pleasure Records and Virgin Music Group, presents a unique blend of “post-plague pop” self-produced by Annie Clark. Inspired by experimentation with drum machines, modular synths, and microdosing psychedelics, Clark crafted a sonic landscape reflecting her singular vision. Recorded across six studios in three cities, including her Compound Fracture studio in Los Angeles, the album embodies a diverse range of influences—from lounge and noise rock to baroque and electronica. Regarding the album’s title, Clark noted: “We’re all born in some ways against our will. But at the same time, if you’re born screaming, it’s a great sign—it’s a sign you’re alive. We’re all born in protest, so screaming is what it means to be alive.”
