This week we’re highlighting new music from Allie X, Laetitia Sadie, and Real Estate.
Allie X – Girl With No Face
Girl with No Face, the third studio album by Canadian avant-pop singer Allie X, was almost entirely written and produced by Allie X over the four years following her previous studio album, Cape God (2020). Inspired by the 1980s and late 1970s, the synthesizer-heavy retro pop sound draws comparisons to artists such as Joy Division, Cocteau Twins, Blondie, Vince Clarke, Kate Bush, Madonna, Kraftwerk, a-Ha, The Human League, The B-52s, and Talking Heads. Reflecting on the creative process, the singer emphasized a commitment to authenticity, stating, “I’m not going to be trying to please anyone else, because there’s literally no one else in this room. I may have created something that’s completely off-trend here, but it’s definitely something that I enjoy.”

Laetitia Sadier – Rooting For Love

Real Estate – Daniel
Real Estate has released their upcoming sixth studio album, Daniel. Released via Domino, the album, recorded over nine days with Grammy-winning producer Daniel Tashian, follows their 2020 release, The Main Thing, and the subsequent 2021 EP, Half a Human. In support of the album, Real Estate will embark on a North American tour starting in March and running through May, with various support acts including Florry, Marina Allen, and Water From Your Eyes.
