This week we highlight new music from Claire Rousay, Tony Shhnow, and IU.
Claire Rousay – sometimes i feel like i have no friends
Claire Rousay is a San Antonio based musician that focuses on personal emotions and everyday life. She accomplishes that by gathering field recordings from whispers, conversations, environmental happenings, and other everyday occurrences. Whatever she can record, she will likely bring into her work. sometimes i feel like i have no friends is her latest work. It’s a 28-minute single track that pulls you into her world within the first few minutes. And once you’re in, you find yourself working to decipher each element and its setting. At one moment you are alone with Claire and her spoken word, and the next it sounds as if you are a passenger along for a car ride. Throughout the recording, Miss Rousay blends the soundscape from one to the other making the minimal the centerpiece. Additional musicians include Emily Harper Scott (Pale Spring) on piano and Mari Maurice on violin.
