Why Bonnie shares intimate new track ‘Fast (Demo)’ ahead of The Bedroom EP release

Why Bonnie returns with a heartfelt new track, ‘Fast (Demo),’ the final single ahead of the release of The Bedroom EP, out this Friday via Fire Talk Records.
The Texas-bred, NYC-based project led by Blair Howerton has spent the past few weeks unveiling stripped-down reworks of earlier material, all recorded in Howerton’s Brooklyn bedroom. But today’s release stands out: ‘Fast (Demo)’ is the only entirely new composition on the EP and offers a rare glimpse into Howerton’s songwriting at its most raw and reflective. Anchored by gently fingerpicked guitar and intimate, layered vocals, the song unfolds slowly, capturing the emotional weight of personal transformation and uncertainty. “Talked to my friend today, she told me that’s the way I should look at things / My eyes are deceiving me,” Howerton sings, encapsulating the push-pull of clarity and confusion.
Howerton explains:
“I wrote this song over 5 years ago when I moved to New York. At that time, I was equal parts excited and terrified by my new life and was grappling with the rapid change. I’ve always loved this song and recording, but never found a place for it on an album. I’m glad it’s finally found a home on this EP with other recordings also made at home in my lonesome.”
‘Fast (Demo)’ arrives just days before the full release of The Bedroom, a collection of reimagined acoustic tracks and introspective performances. To celebrate, Why Bonnie will perform a special show at Union Pool in Brooklyn on August 20, alongside Bloomsday. The event will also serve as an Anti-ICE fundraiser.
