Jouska shares hypnotic new single ‘Pierced.’ from upcoming album How Did I Wind Up Here?

Jouska returns with ‘Pierced.,’ a haunting and meditative track that offers a revealing glimpse into her upcoming album How Did I Wind Up Here?, out October 17 via Koke Plate.
Drawing inspiration from trip-hop, shoegaze, and noise rock, ‘Pierced.’ moves through darker sonic territory, pairing stripped-back arrangements with dreamlike textures reminiscent of The Radio Dept., Slowdive, and Beach House.
Co-written with Thorvik’s partner, Hans Olav Settem, ‘Pierced.’ blends live and programmed drums by Elias Tafjord (Sassy 009, Why Kai) and adds Rhodes keys by Bård Kristian Kylland (Giddygang). The result is a heavy yet strangely sensual composition, filled with tension and vulnerability.
“This one grew out of a shame tied to being seen at all. I’ve always struggled with visibility. Part of me wants to be seen and heard; another part just wants to disappear. Artistry brings that tension to the surface. I often feel like I’m stepping into a role that doesn’t quite fit, exposing parts of myself I’d rather keep hidden. It feels too personal, too raw, and often uncomfortable. This song captures that feeling.”
Listen to ‘Pierced.’ now and stay tuned for more ahead of the album’s October 17 release.
