Wombo returns with Danger in Fives, a workshop in art-rock evolution out now on Fire Talk Records.

Produced by: Wombo

The Louisville trio—Sydney Chadwick, Cameron Lowe, and Joel Taylor—lean fully into experimentation on their third full-length, pushing their shape-shifting post-punk into thrilling new directions. While 2022’s Fairy Rust laid the foundation, Danger in Fives dares to deconstruct it, emerging with a sound that’s richer, riskier, and more dynamic than ever.

Across 11 tracks, Wombo refine their haunting, gauzy aesthetic while exploring fresh terrain, weaving in digital textures and drum machines without sacrificing the jagged energy that defines their live shows. Songs like ‘S.T. Tilted,’ ‘Cloud 36,’ and the bold opener ‘Danger in Fives’ were shaped slowly over time, developed not only in their Louisville basement but also in hotel rooms and on the road.

Lowe states:

“We really quickly threw a lot of paint down and it was almost the picture, but we still tweaked it for a year.”

Chadwick maintains:

“Where’s the fun and the creativity and the exploration in that? You have to push yourself and try something new.”

They’ll bring Danger in Fives to cities across the U.S., UK, and Europe this fall, including stops in Brooklyn, Montreal, London, and Berlin, before hitting the stage at Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris on November 8. As Wombo continues to grow their global presence, Danger in Fives highlights the band as one of the most adventurous and respected voices in the indie underground.
