The NYC-via-Texas band led by Blair Howerton returns with The Bedroom, a new four-track collection that finds the band reimagining songs from their 2024 full-length Wish on the Bone.

Produced by: Jonathan Schenke and Blair Howerton

The EP opens with ‘Fake Out (Bedroom Version),’ a stripped-down take on the bold lead single from Wish on the Bone. With just Howerton and her guitar, the new version exposes the raw core of the song’s lyricism, echoing themes of vulnerability, resilience, and emotional whiplash. Elsewhere, the EP includes similarly intimate reworks of ‘Headlight Sun’ and ‘Three Big Moons,’ plus a new demo titled ‘Fast.’

Wish on the Bone marked Why Bonnie’s debut for Fire Talk and earned praise for its genre-spanning sound and emotionally incisive lyrics. “Hope, to me, is strength,” Howerton said. “These songs were written out of hope for a better future. I’m not naïve, the world is fucked up, but I think you can radically accept that while still believing it’s possible to change things.”

The Bedroom presents a quieter, more meditative side of Why Bonnie, one that further emphasizes Howerton’s lyrical conviction and melodic strength. In stripping away the production, the EP draws listeners closer to the emotional core that’s always been at the heart of the band’s music.
