Tim Carr’s self-released album Pleasure Drives, out August 29, 2025, presents a shimmering yet raw exploration of digital pop, home-recorded electronics, and golden-hour introspection.

Produced by: Tim Carr

Recorded after Carr’s move to Tujunga, Los Angeles, Pleasure Drives reflects the quiet energy of the Crescenta Valley, where he had space to experiment without disturbance. On it, Carr blends polished production with lo-fi textures, creating a soundscape that feels both meticulously crafted yet spontaneously alive. From pulsating drum machines and sub bass on the title track to layered guitar and synthesizers on ‘Looking At Houses’ and ‘Alone Playing Piano,’ Carr fuses songwriting, recording, and electronic arrangement into a singular, immersive vision.

Carr says about the title track:

“I was experimenting with writing from a celebratory place as opposed to a melancholic state, and I wanted it to carry a sense of futurism. This intention eventually crystallized into an electronic arrangement with pulsating drum machines, sub bass, and cathedral-like organs.”

Pleasure Drives positions Tim Carr as a quietly influential figure in Los Angeles’ singer-songwriter and session player circles, marrying playful experimentation with intimate reflection. Pleasure Drives captures a rare tension between private introspection and expansive sonic ambition, marking a new, electrifying chapter in Carr’s evolving artistry.
