Souvenir marks the arrival of Sueño Púrpura in Peru’s shoegaze scene

Lima-based shoegaze band Sueño Púrpura have unveiled their debut album Souvenir, out via Buh Records.
Produced by: Rafael Carranza
Formed in 2022 by guitarists Rodolfo Ontaneda and Christian Ortega—who previously explored instrumental rock with their project Parahelio—the band soon expanded to include vocalist Jandy Torres, bassist José Andrés Lezma, and drummer Juan Camba. Their live performances quickly gained attention within Lima’s emerging shoegaze community, where their cathartic shows highlighted the band’s emotional intensity and sonic ambition.
On Souvenir, Sueño Púrpura explore a wide range of textures and moods. Opening track ‘Sueño Púrpura’ condenses the essence of shoegaze with dense guitars and delicate yet powerful vocals. Songs like ‘Granate’ and ‘Luz Inerte’ balance atmospheric build-ups with harsh, tension-filled passages, while ‘La Niebla’ leans into enveloping guitar-driven soundscapes. ‘El tiempo es una flor’ introduces soaring instrumental crescendos, and closing track ‘Mora’ ventures into hypnotic, psychedelic, and krautrock-inspired territory. Across the record, the band embraces shoegaze’s intersections with post-rock and psychedelia, carving out their own voice in Latin America’s dynamic underground.
Souvenir was recorded and produced by Rafael Carranza at Enrique Delgado Montes Studios, mixed by Carranza, and mastered by Aldo Gilardi. The album artwork and design were created by Ontaneda, with photography by Brenda Lizarzaburu. All music and lyrics were written by Sueño Púrpura.
With Souvenir, Sueño Púrpura not only deliver a commanding debut but also establish themselves as one of the most distinctive and essential new acts in Peru’s independent music movement.
