Starling finds strength in vulnerability on new EP Forgive Me,

Los Angeles-based alternative band Starling returns with Forgive Me, their second EP following 2024’s 2324, out now via Sunday Drive Records.
Produced by: Starling
Forgive Me, is a powerful new release that blends grunge, shoegaze, and raw emotion into a seven-track meditation on love, confusion, and self-reckoning. Across the EP, Starling navigates genre with ease, moving from slow-burning shoegaze textures to jagged, distorted bursts of guitar and melody.
Recorded in sheds, garages, and apartments across Los Angeles, the EP is an entirely DIY effort—mixed by drummer Erik Sathrum Johnson and mastered by Greg Obis (MJ Lenderman, Wishy, Duster). That raw and unvarnished approach extends into the music itself, where each track feels lived-in and emotionally resonant. The opening track ‘Quiet’ starts with a whisper and ends in a cathartic swell, setting the tone for a release that thrives on emotional build and release. Lead single ‘I Can Be Convinced,’ which arrived with a music video, stands as one of the EP’s most upbeat moments—despite its core of yearning and melancholy. The closing track, ‘Keep It,’ stretches to nearly seven minutes and serves as a fitting finale. A longtime staple in their live set, it captures the heart of Starling’s sonic identity—hushed, haunting verses that bloom into a distorted, emotionally charged chorus.
With Forgive Me, Starling delivers a personal collection that balances softness and heaviness, structure and spontaneity. It’s an intimate portrait of a band coming into their own—unafraid to be loud, quiet, vulnerable, and entirely themselves.
