Brooklyn-based shoegaze and dream-pop duo Silver Liz release their third full-length album, III via their own Extremely Pure label. Operating at the intersection of indie rock, shoegaze, and electronic pop, the new album captures a period of transition for founders Carrie and Matt Wagner, pairing restless, futuristic production with songwriting rooted in memory, displacement, and emotional vulnerability.

Produced by: Matt Wagner

Where earlier Silver Liz records leaned more heavily on jangly guitars and familiar dream-pop textures, this release favors a more nuanced approach, incorporating burbling synthesis, shifting structures, and a sense of constant motion. The arrangements feel unsettled but intentional, reflecting themes of grief, loneliness, and interpersonal distance while maintaining a cohesive atmosphere that moves between intimacy and release.

Several key tracks highlight how III strikes a balance between immediacy and experimentation. Songs such as ‘Dream More Vivid’ and ‘Through The Trees’ showcase the album’s blend of fuzzy guitar tones and electronic undercurrents, while later moments lean into more reflective pacing and emotional weight. Rather than functioning as isolated singles, these tracks serve the album’s larger arc, reinforcing its focus on transformation and the passage through different emotional spaces.

Silver Liz describe a deeply personal context for the record.

“We started writing this record shortly after we relocated from Chicago to Brooklyn in May 2021/ We had a lot of college friends from the East Coast who had been living here for a while. We spent our first year sharing a house in Bed-Stuy with two really good friends and then they moved to another city and we moved to our own place. After that, it felt like more and more of our friends were moving away from New York City while we were just getting started.”

Out now, III is available to stream and download via Extremely Pure. As Silver Liz prepare for a new chapter that includes welcoming their first child and relocating to Pittsburgh, the album stands as a reflective release that captures the uncertainty and catharsis of their twenties.
