Berlin-based band Rikas returns with their sophomore album, Soundtrack For A Movie That Has Not Been Written Yet, a vibrant and cohesive collection that captures the restless energy of constant movement.

Produced by: Daniel Schaub

Known for their breezy harmonies and egalitarian songwriting approach, Rikas—comprised of Sascha Scherer, Sam Luca Baisch, Ferdinand Hübner, and Chris Ronge—crafted the album across Berlin, Los Angeles, and Amsterdam. Influenced by their travels, the album explores themes of motion, transition, and camaraderie. The band’s signature alt-pop sound is infused with new textures, drawing from their experiences on the road.

Opening track ‘Bike In LA’ sets the tone with a mid-tempo, piano-led melody reflecting the band’s culture shock in Southern California. Elsewhere, ‘Passenger’ acts as a thematic cornerstone, encapsulating the journey-like nature of the album. Written late in the process, it helped the band make sense of their evolving artistic direction. With 11 tightly constructed tracks, the album balances introspection with an easygoing charm, reinforcing Rikas’ ability to blend humor and heart.

Sascha says of ‘Passenger’:

“The moment that we wrote ‘Passenger’ was late in the process of making the album. The record made more sense to me after writing it. Before going into the mixing process, we were on holiday for two weeks during the summer. Sam and I came back and talked about what our plans are now. After we had some coffee, we started to make music. The recording process is not as creative as writing, sometimes. It felt like we were leaving to just play music and write. ‘Passenger’ finished in a day. It had to go on the record because it closes this chapter off.”

With Soundtrack For A Movie That Has Not Been Written Yet, Rikas delivers their most mature and thought-provoking work yet. As they embark on a European tour, the band is set to bring their cinematic vision to life on stage.

Standout Songs: ‘Bike In L.A.,’ ‘Barcelona (Learning To Love Myself),’ ‘Strangers,’ and ‘Just Like Ice Cream.’

Release Date: February 7
