renforshort confronts girlhood with poise and power on new EP a girl’s experience

Canadian alt-pop artist renforshort returns with a girl’s experience, a four-track EP that delves into the emotional terrain of modern womanhood, out June 6, 2025.
Produced by: David Pramik & Jeff Hazin
Across the project, renforshort offers an intimate portrait of uncertainty, independence, and connection, crafting a cohesive and emotionally resonant narrative through a mix of confessional lyrics, polished production, and experimental flair. Leading the release is the brand new single ‘you’re the one,’ a simmering, sultry track that leans into partly spoken-word narration and dreamy intimacy. While the music carries playful and upbeat pop elements, the lyrics often explore deeper themes, creating a compelling contrast.
The EP builds on the success of earlier singles ‘on my way!,’ ‘feeling good,’ and ‘pretend to like me.’ Each track contributes a distinct perspective to the project’s overarching theme, from the energetic optimism of ‘on my way!’ to the melancholic introspection of ‘pretend to like me.’ Sonically, the project bridges renforshort’s indie-rock roots with a more mature, pop-forward sound, signaling growth in both style and substance.
“a girls experience is a project about exactly what the title infers. It’s not about a specific experience, it’s about the uniqueness of every persons- and how with that individuality there’s always things that bring us together and allow us to understand each other through shared experiences. I wrote this project when I was feeling very unsure, confused, and frankly unsettled with my life. I think writing this project forced me to disconnect from those thoughts. I wanted to step outside of my head for a bit everyday and make music that explained how I felt without harping on it. I love the duality of some of the songs on the project like feeling good and pretend to like me. The lyrics are quite melancholic and reflective- however, the music feels like a juxtaposition of the content of the song. They all feel like songs you can sing with your friends without feeling those things, or you could listen to them alone with headphones on a walk and really resonates with the lyrics.”
a girl’s experience follows renforshort’s previous releases, clean hands dirty water and her debut album dear amelia. a girl’s experience marks a confident evolution in her artistry. By fusing sharp storytelling with genre-blurring production, renforshort continues to establish herself as one of alt-pop’s most compelling voices.
