Portland-based songwriter and producer Graham Jonson, better known as quickly, quickly, returns with his sophomore LP I Heard That Noise, out April 18 via Ghostly International.

Produced by: Graham Jonson

Following 2021’s The Long and Short of It and 2023’s Easy Listening EP, I Heard That Noise is Jonson’s most expansive and sonically adventurous work to date. Known for blending the homespun with the hi-fi, Jonson set out to make a folk record — but couldn’t resist flooding it with bright textures, unconventional turns, and cinematic sound design. Across eleven tracks, he pairs unexpected chord changes, ambient interludes, and distorted jolts with his melodic instincts, finding emotional clarity in chaos. The album curves around daily life with warmth, wit, and dissonance.

Influenced by the raw and unpredictable styles of artists like Mount Eerie, Dijon, and Nick Drake, Jonson plays with structure and surprise. ‘Enything’ jolts into view after a warped intro, bursting with jagged guitars and vocal harmonies from Julia Logue. ‘Raven’ opens with twangy ease before detonating into metallic thunder, while ‘Take It From Me’ folds heartbreak into acoustic strums and soft keys. In the album’s final stretch, songs like ‘I Punched Through A Wall’ capture emotional extremes through layered pop flourishes and sudden sonic crashes. It’s ambitious, yet never alienating — Jonson knows when to push and when to pull.

Quickly, Quickly states:

“I’ve always found peace in knowing that other people, even if I don’t know their exact experience, may have the same feeling that I do.”

With I Heard That Noise, quickly, quickly doesn’t just refine his sound — he opens it up. The album invites listeners to feel, flinch, and float, all in the span of a single track.

Standout Songs: ‘Enything,’ ‘I Punched Through The Wall,’ ‘Drawn Away,’ and ‘You Are.’
