Brighton trio Oral Habit wastes no time making their presence felt on Garage Frock!, a blistering four-track EP clocking in at just ten minutes and packed with fuzz, fire, and emotional release.

Produced by: Oral Habit

Led by the sibling dynamism of Charlie and Felix Hales and rounded out by bassist Tippi Lewis, Oral Habit delivers a chaotic and cathartic dose of psychedelic garage rock. From the moment the swagger of the title track kicks in, Garage Frock! captures a band with something urgent to say—and a noise-soaked way to say it. ‘Sauerkraut,’ their pun-laced March single, rides a grinding krautrock pulse, while ‘I’m Free’ leans into more introspective indie territory, exploring themes of “backstabbing and betrayal.” The EP closes with ‘The Coast,’ a bruised and bluesy love letter to the Brighton shoreline that veers from tender to explosive.

Recorded with Rory Lethbridge and engineer Harry Hayes, the EP finds the band stretching beyond their live setup with tape machines, synths, and bold production choices.

Charlie explains:

“I wanted to create a piece of work where the tracks could exist in a similar space to one another, getting a balance of our live sound while introducing instruments from out of our comfort zone. Working with Rory Lethbridge (co-producer) and Harry Hayes (engineer) led to a lot of exciting experimentation with tape machines and synthesizers that we hadn’t done before. ‘Creating Garage Frock!‘ helped form us as a band, shedding a new skin to move onto our next endeavour.”

Released via cult Manchester label Sour Grapes (known for work with Wax Head, SLAP RASH, and YAANG), Garage Frock! follows a string of buzzed-about singles and gigs across Brighton and London. With Garage Frock!, Oral Habit throttle their instruments “until they leak with feedback”—and in the process, introduce themselves as one of the UK’s most exciting new noise-rock outfits.
