London-based indie-pop singer-songwriter Linfa Kear unveils How’s Your Mother, her debut EP, out today.

Produced by: Joe Futak

Produced in close collaboration with Joe Futak (Lilo, piglet, Tapir!, Aga Ujma), How’s Your Mother balances playful storytelling with diaristic honesty, touching on everything from awkward first loves to spotting exes on dating apps. Across four tracks, Kear crafts a sonic space where indie-pop sensibilities meet the offbeat charm of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer soundtrack, drawing comparisons to Katy J Pearson, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Metronomy. The EP follows the success of previous singles ‘American TV’ and ‘Conversation Holder.’

Kear, who grew up in Kent before relocating to Deptford, has been an active presence in London’s grassroots music scene, working closely with contemporaries like Pushpin and Lilo. With How’s Your Mother, she steps into the spotlight as a storyteller whose songs reflect the bittersweet humor and nostalgia of growing up. From the sentimental longing of Tourist to the introspective yet upbeat Venn Diagram, the EP captures the everyday moments that shape identity and relationships.

Reflecting on the project, Kear shares:

“How’s Your Mother originally started as a sort of love letter to myself and my friends after recovering from a horrible relationship and accidentally acted as a turning point of how I saw myself and music. Everything I’d written before this was very serious and making this with Joe (my bestie) was wholesome and healing.”

With How’s Your Mother, Linfa Kear delivers a debut that is as heartfelt as it is wry, filled with catchy melodies and introspective musings. As she prepares for an intimate headline show at London’s Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes next month, it’s clear that this is only the beginning for the rising indie-pop artist.

Standout Songs: ‘American TV,’ and ‘Conversation Holder.’

Release Date: April 4
