New Orleans indie rock band Lawn returns with their fourth album, God Made The Highway, out via Exploding In Sound. The record highlights the chemistry between co-lead singers and songwriters Mac Folger and Rui De Magalhaes, whose contrasting styles combine into an energetic, cohesive collection.

Produced by: Lawn

Although distance separated them—De Magalhaes in Chicago and Folger in Louisiana—their collaboration thrived through voice memos, remote writing, and a whirlwind studio session. The result is 11 tracks blending breezy jangle-pop with biting post-punk. It’s also the band’s first studio-recorded LP, tracked at Palisades in Chicago with drummer Mark Edlin and guitarist Nick Corson.

Singles like ‘Pressure’ and ‘Sports Gun’ highlight the band’s intensity with sharp riffs and driving basslines, while Folger-led tracks ‘Barroom Wonder’ and ‘Davie’ lean into melodic, power-pop charm. By the album’s end, Folger and De Magalhaes’ sensibilities merge, showing a band ready to evolve.

Folger states:

“As disjointed as we might sound sometimes, this is the record where Rui and I got out of our comfort zones. At least now, instead of sounding like two different bands, we’re beginning to sound more like each other and ourselves.”

With God Made The Highway, Lawn delivers their most confident work yet, a testament to both friendship and creative growth.
