Ladybarn brings intensity and intrigue on debut EP Intruder

Named after the Manchester suburb where the band formed, the EP marks a striking arrival on the alternative music scene and is distinguished by brooding atmospheres and raw, frenetic energy.
Produced by: Noah Richmond
The standout track ‘One by One’ is a gritty narrative that melds goth-rock, punk intensity, and haunting shoegaze elements to tell a dark, old-world tale of love and jealousy. The song’s soft-loud dynamics create an impressive push and pull, enhancing the tension as it progresses. The track’s cinematic feel draws on both spaghetti westerns and blues influences, evoking the violent jealousy of a man who ultimately meets his end at the hands of his lover.
Explaining the song, Ladybarn shares:
“‘One by One’ illustrates toxic masculinity and jealousy, brought to life in a spaghetti western and blues-inspired storytelling approach. Backed by flashes of punchy dynamics and dissonance, a rage-induced narrative unfolds as you’re taken on a journey through the eyes of a man steeped in violence; who ultimately meets his demise by the hand of his lover.”
Intruder as a whole builds on these themes of dark introspection and emotional volatility. With their jazz-rooted yet punk-fueled sound, Ladybarn has crafted an EP that’s both explosive and artfully restrained, securing their place in Manchester’s thriving music scene.
Intruder is out now.
