Keep finds its stride with expansive third album Almost Static
Richmond, Virginia’s Keep returns with their most cohesive and fully realized album yet.

Formed in 2013, Keep has long lived in the sonic spaces carved by acts like The Cure, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Slowdive, but their latest full-length, Almost Static, finds the band pulling all of its influences into sharper focus than ever before. Over the years, Keep has operated across several genres, most commonly landing in shoegaze, but always tethered to the broader currents of alternative rock. With Almost Static, they’ve pieced together those many threads into something seamless—and inheritly its own.
Self-released on May 30, the album feels like a product of reflection and endurance—over a decade of work distilled into 11 anthemic tracks built for movement. Recorded between Electrical Audio in Chicago and Earth Analog in Tolono, Illinois, with longtime collaborator Zac Montez (Whirr, Cloakroom) at the helm, Almost Static plays like a road trip soundtrack for a world in constant motion. Tracks like ‘Smile Down (Into Nothing),’ ‘Bermuda,’ and the title track mark new creative ground, while others embrace the sprawling, mist-shrouded sound Keep has come to master.
As they gear up to support the record with extensive touring, including a run with Turnover on the Peripheral Vision 10th anniversary tour, Almost Static stands as a defining moment for Keep—a band that’s not only survived the shifting tides of underground rock but continues to evolve within them.
