Josef Scott’s latest EP, Beacon Hill, is a deeply introspective project that reflects on the meaning of home, personal growth, and the inevitable changes that come with time.

Produced by: Josef Scott

After teasing listeners with singles like ‘Picture Me,’ ‘Cold,’ ‘Field of Dreams,’ and ‘Again,’ Scott delivers a fully realized collection that blends delicate melodies with raw emotion. The EP introduces a new track, ‘Everything,’ with weaves groovy guitars, brooding basslines, intricate acoustics, and soulful vocals into an introspective tapestry, gently nudging listeners to pause and confront their past to fully live in the present.

With Beacon Hill, Scott crafts a sonic journey through nostalgia and self-discovery. Each track offers a moment of quiet reflection, capturing the push and pull between longing for the past and embracing the future.

Beacon Hill is a project about returning home and realising that home isn’t the same, and maybe I’m not either. I never intended it as a continuation of my previous EP Joy Street, but as the songs came together, I saw the bigger picture. Going back to New Zealand after a year of adversity, growth, and change felt like stepping into the past. It was comforting, but it also made me question everything I had worked toward.

“This EP captures that internal conflict-the push and pull between nostalgia and progress, between holding on and letting go. It’s about longing, about reconciling with the past, and about the people who shape us along the way. Writing and recording these songs became a way to process those emotions, to understand what home really means, and to accept that moving forward sometimes means leaving things behind.”

With its heartfelt lyricism and emotive soundscapes, Beacon Hill is a beautifully crafted exploration of change, memory, and the search for meaning in the places and people that shape us. Scott’s ability to channel deeply personal experiences into his music makes this EP an essential listen for those who find themselves caught between the past and the future.
