“Beacon Hill is a project about returning home and realising that home isn’t the same, and maybe I’m not either. I never intended it as a continuation of my previous EP Joy Street, but as the songs came together, I saw the bigger picture. Going back to New Zealand after a year of adversity, growth, and change felt like stepping into the past. It was comforting, but it also made me question everything I had worked toward.
“This EP captures that internal conflict-the push and pull between nostalgia and progress, between holding on and letting go. It’s about longing, about reconciling with the past, and about the people who shape us along the way. Writing and recording these songs became a way to process those emotions, to understand what home really means, and to accept that moving forward sometimes means leaving things behind.”
