Philadelphia’s Her New Knife return this fall with chrome is lullaby:re, a deluxe remixed edition of their acclaimed 2024 EP chrome is lullaby. Out now via Julia’s War Recordings, the EP offers a new, reimagined lens on their signature blend of shoegaze and post-punk.

Produced by: Adris Raal and Dylan Vaisey

Across its six tracks, chrome is lullaby:re deepens the textures and emotional resonance of Her New Knife’s earlier work. Where the 2024 EP thrived on scraping guitars and relentless, machine-like percussion, the remixed edition blurs those edges into dreamlike abstraction. The result is an atmospheric hybrid of industrial trip-hop, noise rock, and ambient shoegaze—a palette that retains the urgency of the original but refracts it through layers of distortion, rhythm, and electronic haze.

The first preview, ‘kittyriff – They Are Gutting A Body Of Water: re,’ sets the tone for the project. Julia’s War labelhead and TAGABOW frontman Doug Dulgarian transforms the song into something both heavy and hypnotic. Atencio’s vocals float above the mix like a haunting refrain. “Doug has really been a huge part of our lives up here in Philly,” drummer Elijah Ford said of the collaboration. “He totally transformed the song into a beautiful trip hop banger – and for that – I love him forever.”

Formed in Philadelphia, PA, Her New Knife consists of Edgar Atencio (guitar, vocals), Ben Kachler (guitar), Carolina Schooley (bass), and Elijah Ford (drums). The band’s sound has long drawn comparisons to acts like Slint, Water From Your Eyes, and TAGABOW, but chrome is lullaby:re pushes further into experimental terrain. Their live performances—described as intense and ephemeral—mirror that same duality: an oblique, immersive journey through noise and stillness.

chrome is lullaby:re was produced collaboratively between the remix artists and the band, with Her New Knife’s own raw performances serving as the foundation for each track. Recorded originally in Philadelphia and reimagined by peers across the underground, the release feels both communal and deeply personal.

The EP is out now via Julia’s War Recordings and will be available on vinyl and cassette. Her New Knife are set to open for Water From Your Eyes throughout the fall.
