Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Camille Schmidt makes a bold entrance with her debut album, Nude #9, an eclectic blend of indie rock, folk-pop, and synth-pop.

Produced by: Ben Zaidi

Weaving vivid portraits of her life, from family and lovers to her evolving sense of self, the ten-track collection is a deeply personal endeavor. The album builds upon the promise of her earlier EP, Good Person, by expanding both the emotional depth and sonic scope of her music. With producer Ben Zaidi, Schmidt wrote over 45 songs, refining them into an album that marries sharp wit, raw emotion, and innovative instrumentation. Tracks like ‘XOXO’ and ‘Cult in Denver’ showcase her vocal versatility as she intricately blends intimate storytelling with bold, adventurous soundscapes.

On the standout track ‘Stanley,’ Schmidt wields her guitar with fiery intensity, creating a poignant yet absurd tapestry of a woman navigating uncertainty. “A lot of these songs were written completely stream of consciousness,” Schmidt said of her process. By embracing spontaneity, she has crafted an album that feels both unfiltered and meticulously realized.

Nude #9 is a fearless debut, inviting listeners into Schmidt’s world with a mixture of humor, vulnerability, and piercing honesty. In reflecting on her truth, Schmidt not only shares her story but also holds a mirror to our own complexities, making her debut as universal as it is uniquely her own.
