After a four-year hiatus, Dylan Gamez Citron, the creative force behind bedbug returns with a revitalized sound on their fourth studio album, Pack Your Bags The Sun Is Growing, released via Boston’s Disposable America.

Produced by: Nick Dussault at Big Nice Studio in Rhode Island

bedbug’s evolution from a solo project, characterized by Casio synths and cassette tapes, to a full-fledged indie rock band is evident in their latest offering. Moving from their Boston roots to Los Angeles, the band introduces a new level of urgency in their sound, capturing the essence of indie rock legends like Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, and Broken Social Scene. While preserving the lo-fi energy and bedroom pop at the heart of their earlier works, Pack Your Bags The Sun Is Growing marks a departure for bedbug as it becomes their first studio-recorded album with a full band.

Here’s Dylan Gamez Citron discussing the album:

“This is a bit of a new direction for bedbug, the entire record was recorded in-studio. We put a lot of love into it, and made sure there’s still lots to love for the longtime “lofi” fans. I’m a bit nervous about this one, it’s been a few years since I’ve put out new music. It’s also the most ambitious bedbug album by far, so I appreciate everyone who’s been sticking with me!”

Conceptually kaleidoscopic, the album seamlessly blends confessional lyricism with surrealist storytelling. The result is an unashamed love letter to the aforementioned giants, encapsulating the essence of indie rock, emo, and bedroom pop. Pack Your Bags The Sun Is Growing promises the listener an intoxicating journey through indie rock, capturing the spirit of the genre’s icons while pushing the boundaries of bedbug’s sonic landscape.

At the time of this publication, bedbug’s pack your bags the sun is growing proudly secures the top ranking for any album on our platform in 2024—a position it rightfully deserves.
