Bagdad deliver crushing and tender debut EP They Don’t Know
Polish rock trio Bagdad has unveiled their debut EP, They Don’t Know, via Houston-based Rite Field Records. Blending grunge’s explosive energy with slowcore’s brooding depth, the collection is a testament to the band’s ability to channel grief, friendship, and nostalgia through waves of atmospheric guitar.

Recorded in the summer of 2024, They Don’t Know marks a significant moment for the band—guitarist and vocalist Franciszek Drobiński, bassist Wojciech Stach, and drummer Jakub Gadamski. Each track surpasses four minutes in length, with the longest stretching beyond seven, allowing the trio to fully immerse the listener in their emotive and textured songwriting. The EP’s first single, ‘Valley of Dry Bones,’ is a hypnotic dive into 90s grunge influences, while ‘Somewhere, Nowhere‘ pairs wistful vocals with soaring riffs to explore themes of regret and longing.
Reflecting on the EP’s journey, Drobiński shares:
“They Don’t Know has come quite a long way. The songs were basically ready more than two years ago, but due to personnel changes in the band, the whole process dragged on. When we entered the recording studio last summer, we weren’t contracted with any record label, so we had to take care of everything ourselves. Then it went on its own, and by some chance, we’re releasing this EP under a label from Houston, Texas, more than five thousand miles from our hometown. It’s pretty crazy.”
With They Don’t Know, Bagdad makes a striking introduction, turning moments of melancholy into sweeping, cathartic soundscapes. Their fusion of raw emotion and sonic intensity places them firmly on the map as a band to watch.
