Arny Margret Expands Her Sound on I Miss You, I Do

Icelandic evocative singer-songwriter, Arny Margret, returns with her second album, I Miss You, I Do, out now via One Little Independent Records.
Produced by: Brad Cook, Andrew Berlin, Josh Kaufman, and Guðm. “Kiddi” Kristinn Jónsson
Following her minimalist folk debut, they only talk about the weather, Margret takes a more expansive approach, incorporating lush instrumentation and a broader sonic palette. Recorded across sessions in New York City, North Carolina, Colorado, and Iceland, the album benefits from the influence of diverse landscapes and collaborators. Throughout her extensive international touring, Margret connected with producers and musicians who helped shape a fuller, more textured sound. Banjo, harmonium, slide guitar, and atmospheric keys weave through her introspective songwriting, elevating the album’s emotional depth.
Margret worked with an impressive lineup of producers, including Josh Kaufman (The National, This Is The Kit, The War On Drugs), Andrew Berlin (Gregory Alan Isakov), Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Waxahatchee, Big Red Machine), and Guðm. “Kiddi” Kristinn Jónsson (Ásgeir). This collective effort results in an album that maintains Margret’s poetic lyricism while embracing a richer, more immersive production style.
‘I Miss You, I Do’ and ‘Crooked Teeth’ stand out as highlights, showcasing Margret’s ability to balance vulnerability with expansive instrumentation. The album’s themes of longing and reflection are amplified by its carefully crafted arrangements, making it a compelling next step in her artistic evolution.
With I Miss You, I Do, Arny Margret proves she is more than a folk singer—she is a storyteller capable of blending delicate introspection with sonic grandeur.
