1tbsp blends global club sounds on genre-pushing EP Hotel Living

Australian producer and DJ 1tbsp returns with a bold new project, Hotel Living, a six-track EP via Sumoclic that blends club energy, Latin influences, and experimental textures into a vibrant, genre-fluid experience.
Produced by: Maxwell Byrne
Following a steady rollout of infectious singles, Hotel Living arrives as a complete body of work, showcasing 1tbsp’s knack for crossing boundaries while staying dance floor-ready. The EP includes three previously released tracks—’Wet Peak Stars’ (feat. Meth Math), ‘Rush (Missing Out On Me)’ (feat. Cherry Chola & Purient), and ‘Isso’ (feat. MC Pânico)—as well as three brand-new additions: ‘Dolly Destructiva’ (feat. Cherry Chola), ‘It Hurts So Bad’ (feat. DJ ADHD), and ‘Rosas Y Besitos’ (feat. Cherry Chola).
On Hotel Living, 1tbsp—aka Maxwell Byrne—reaches across continents, tapping collaborators from Australia, Venezuela, Mexico, the UK, and Brazil to shape a sonic landscape that feels global and intimate. Inspired by French house, hyperpop, and experimental club, the EP finds a balance between underground grit and pop accessibility. Across six tracks, Byrne weaves a high-BPM world of rich percussive layers, playful synths, and cross-cultural vocals, held together by his trademark warmth and curiosity.
1tbsp explains:
“Hotel Living feels like a zeroed-in extension to my previous release Megacity1000. I wanted to find a concept that still had the busy-ness and variety of a city but could exist within a room, and hotel living came to mind Unexpectedly, all the songs are very upbeat and to me feel like this mix between sensitivity and rushing.”
Additionally, the EP also marks a creative high point in Byrne’s partnership with Australian/Venezuelan vocalist Cherry Chola, who appears on half of the EP’s tracks. Other collaborators include Kate Durman (aka Purient), Angél Ballesteros (Meth Math), Walace da Luz Pacheco (MC Pânico), and Alex Frosell (DJ ADHD). Together, they contribute to a dynamic, multicultural energy that runs throughout the project.
Hotel Living is out now on Sumoclic and is available to stream. 1tbsp will support the release with a series of international tour dates, including a performance tonight in Salt Lake City supporting Disclosure, and additional shows across Brooklyn, Washington, Madrid, London, Portland, and more throughout the summer and fall.
