Copenhagen’s genre-defying trio When Saints Go Machine shares their latest single, ‘Co-Star,’ a psychedelic pop track that signals a striking shift in the band’s sound.
Known for their atmospheric electronic compositions, the group—comprised of Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild, Jonas Kenton, and Silas Moldenhawer—takes a step back from their synth-driven textures. With ‘Co-Star,’ they embrace a more organic, colorful approach, drawing from the sounds that originally inspired their musical roots. The result is a richly layered pop song tinged with psychedelic flourishes, all centered around Vonsild’s emotive, vibrato-laced vocals.
Lead singer Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild says:
“Every day, around 100,000 commercial planes take off, and in one of them, I sat wishing I could jump out the window because I had lost one of life’s great loves. In a hotel room, the TV played all night while I couldn’t find peace. The nausea was overwhelming, like being locked in place, unable to act, while the world outside raged on. The only other people in the hotel restaurant were an elderly American couple – the man smoked a cigar, and the lighting was pure loneliness.”
