Wavepool shares bittersweet dream-pop single ‘Tiny Cowboy’
Rouen-based shoegaze and dream-pop newcomers Wavepool have released their debut single, ‘Tiny Cowboy,’ a wistful meditation on loneliness, connection, and the quiet beauty of self-discovery.
Formed in 2024, Wavepool emerged with a sound that evokes the slacker-rock haze of Duster and the soft-focus melancholy of Cindy Lee and Homeshake. Their first offering, ‘Tiny Cowboy,’ floats on ethereal vocals and hazy textures, crafting a melancholic yet uplifting soundscape that feels tailor-made for late-afternoon introspection. The track unfolds like a slow-motion dream, shifting between soft shoegaze guitars and ambient synth swells that blur memory and emotion.
Visually, the band pairs the single with a video composed of anonymous vacation footage discovered on an old cassette camera purchased at a flea market. Shot in the Maldives, the forgotten images become a visual echo of the song’s mood—nostalgic, distant, and strangely intimate. It’s the soundtrack to someone else’s stolen dream, reframed as a personal journey.
