Valley Boy feigns a smile on bittersweet new single ‘Happy All The Time’
Valley Boy kicks off the rollout of his debut concept album Children of Divorce with the sharply poignant new single ‘Happy All The Time,’ out now.
The track, a ragged and spirited ode to the emotional acrobatics of children navigating split households, leans into sarcasm to mask the pain. It explores the cyclical nature of relationships and emotional avoidance, where the pursuit of love is repeatedly eclipsed by sadness that never quite lets go. Built around a raw pop sensibility and framed by Valley Boy’s storytelling, the song is his “gleefully sarcastic two cents” on a familiar struggle: “One thing you should know about children of divorce is that we’re happy all the time.”
Alongside the single comes a powerful live performance video directed by Jimmy Regular, filmed in an echoey, defunct auto-body shop. The clip underscores Valley Boy’s expressive vocals and emotional depth, capturing a live energy that pushes beyond studio production constraints.
