Tim Carr finds freedom in the sound of ‘Pleasure Drives’

Tim Carr shares the glistening title track from his newly announced album Pleasure Drives, set for release on August 29, 2025. The single is a vibrant introduction to Carr’s evolving sonic identity, bridging electronic pop with textured, home-recorded production.
Inspired by a sense of playfulness and escape, ‘Pleasure Drives’ invites listeners to step away from the pressure of productivity and into a euphoric headspace. Written and recorded while living in a friend’s backhouse in the Crescenta Valley, the track channels the feel of golden-hour drives through warm, rippling synths, sub-bass, and soaring organ layers.
Carr says about the title track:
“I was experimenting with writing from a celebratory place as opposed to a melancholic state, and I wanted it to carry a sense of futurism. This intention eventually crystallized into an electronic arrangement with pulsating drum machines, sub bass, and cathedral-like organs.”
‘Pleasure Drives’ is the first taste of Carr’s upcoming self-released album, also titled Pleasure Drives. The project reflects a shift in Carr’s process—recorded solo, driven by experimentation, and rooted in the freedom to create without pressure. The album features contributions from Gregory Uhlmann (Hand Habits, Perfume Genius) and mastering by Jack Doutt (Shannon Lay, Meerna), but remains a deeply personal portrait of Carr’s creative world.
‘Pleasure Drives’ is out now.
