Stockholm duo tibia captures restless longing in new single ‘Molly in Mexico’
Swedish indie-rock duo tibia returns with their latest single, ‘Molly in Mexico,’ a track drenched in punk energy and reflective lyrics.
The track captures a feeling of fleeting connection, driven by an urgent indie-rock soundscape that pairs well with its companion music video. Shot over 24 hours in Mexico City, the video presents an intimate glimpse into a single day from the back seat of a car, emphasizing the song’s underlying themes of restlessness and the search for meaning. The duo, composed of Swedish Grammy-nominated artist Elias Sahlin and sought-after songwriter Vide Willemark, uses ‘Molly in Mexico’ to explore the frustration and introspection that can arise from routine.
Reflecting on the single, tibia says:
“Around and around and around in the same city. The night is starting to feel dull, ur kind of heartbroken, and drugs are 100% boring. Tried becoming a morning person who starts the day with a silly little run and drinks water before coffee. Nothing is really working tho. Maybe u just gotta leave ur life and go somewhere that feels like: ‘Sunriiiiiiise!!!!'”
‘Molly in Mexico’ showcases tibia’s evolving sound and hints at an exciting direction for their anticipated debut full-length project, set for release in 2025.
