NYC trio The Wants continue their streak of intense, genre-bending releases with ‘Data Tumor,’ the second single from their upcoming sophomore album Bastard, out June 13 via STTT.

‘Data Tumor’ is a bold statement—an uncompromising fusion of vintage synths, post-punk minimalism, and roaring rock theatrics. Anchored by Madison Velding-VanDam’s haunting vocal presence, the track explores the psychological toll of maintaining individuality in an era obsessed with digital commodification.

Velding-VanDam explains:

“‘Data Tumor’ inhabits the psychological push and pull of trying to assert individuality in a world intent on commodifying and distorting it. The faceless collective of information and stimuli incentivizes the surrender of personal agency. Choices have to be made or they are made for you.”

‘Data Tumor’ is available now on all streaming platforms. Bastard arrives June 13.
