The Holy Knives explore darkness and survival in new single ‘Killer’

The Holy Knives return with their haunting new single ‘Killer,’ the second release from their upcoming EP I Don’t Wanna Win, which is set for release on December 13.
Produced by Jamie Hince of The Kills, ‘Killer’ is a dark, introspective track that wrestles with the challenges of survival and self-identity. The song’s brooding melody and fierce lyrics illustrate a desire to escape the pressures of societal expectations, questioning whether one can opt out of the “game of life” that forces people into competitive roles.
As Kyle Valentine of The Holy Knives explains:
“The concept of ‘Killer’ ties in with the entire theme of the EP It begins ‘I Don’t Wanna Win,’ and the verse explores the desire to not be a part of the normal game of life that makes everyone into winners and losers. It’s about wishing to exist outside of the forced participation in the combative nature of society and even the natural world. Although it’s an ideal thought, you can’t actually escape the reality of the world. So if you have to play the world’s game, you might as well be a killer, you might as well give it your all to come out on top.”
Shot partially in a festival-filled downtown Los Angeles, the video is as cinematic as the track itself, blending structured scenes with spontaneous moments that capture the song’s raw energy.
‘Killer’ is out now.
