The Faint shares unearthed gem ‘Zealots’ from Wet From Birth era

The Faint, pioneers of the electroclash and dance-punk movements, have released ‘Zealots,’ an unreleased track from the Wet From Birth era. The song arrives alongside the announcement of reissues for their classic albums Blank-Wave Arcade and Wet From Birth, both set for release on March 14 via Saddle Creek.
‘Zealots’ is a gripping and provocative track that delves into the tension between ideology and action. The song’s lyrics—centered on the paradox between Christianity’s core message of love and a fixation on guns—are strikingly relevant. With its pulsing beat and haunting synths, the track captures the signature edge that defined The Faint’s music during its peak.
Reflecting on the track, frontman Todd Fink shared:
“This song came from a dream Jacob had (our late keyboard player). In the dream, people were chanting, ‘You will know we are zealots by our guns.’ The lyrics are about the paradox between Christianity’s core message of love and the obsession with guns among some of its followers.”
As The Faint prepares for the reissue of their seminal albums and an extensive U.S. tour, ‘Zealots’ offers both a nostalgic look back and a reminder of the band’s ability to create music that feels urgent and vital.
