Tei Shi has released her vibrant new single ‘222,’ a genre-blurring bilingual collaboration with fellow Colombian artist Loyal Lobos.

‘222’ is the latest preview of Tei Shi’s upcoming album Make Believe I Make Believe, due out August 29th via Tei Shi LLC / The Orchard. Following the more introspective ‘Best Be Leaving’ and the fiery ‘Drop Dead,’ this new single adds an infectious summer anthem to the album’s evolving narrative. Produced alongside longtime collaborators Noah Beresin and Tommy English, ‘222’ showcases a playful yet empowered energy shaped by personal growth and a creatively transformative retreat.

Inspired by a joke between friends about giving out fake phone numbers to avoid unwanted attention, the track’s core hook—“222-2290”—became a symbol of rejecting the male gaze in favor of joy, freedom, and camaraderie. Musically, ‘222’ blends dembow and perreo rhythms with electronic dream pop, with both Tei Shi and Loyal Lobos alternating between Spanish and English, offering a seamless fusion of their shared Colombian roots.

Tei Shi shares:

“‘222’ is a song about friendship, fun, and roaming free in the world. It’s about rejecting male attention in exchange for joy and pleasure. We were laughing about giving out fake numbers, and ‘222-2290’ just stuck. From there, the track came together effortlessly—mixing our bilingualism with our love for electronic dream pop and nostalgic perreo.”

‘222’ is out now.
