Rising Canadian duo sundayclub, formed by Courtney Carmichael and Nikki St. Pierre in rural Manitoba, makes an evocative entrance with their debut single ‘Bannatyne,’ out now alongside a tender lyric video. The release also marks the group’s signing to Toronto-based label Paper Bag Records, with more music promised shortly.

‘Bannatyne’ blends sundayclub’s dreamy indie-pop aesthetic with emotionally rich storytelling, chronicling the early sparks of a new relationship within the vibrant atmosphere of Winnipeg’s arts district. Recorded with a warm, stripped-back production style, the track leans into bedroom pop simplicity, highlighting the glowing lead vocals and understated instrumentation. The accompanying video, filmed during Nuit Blanche, adds to the sense of wonder and nostalgia that surrounds the single.

As the first release on their new label home, ‘Bannatyne’ sets the stage for what’s to come. sundayclub’s music functions like a polaroid: imperfect, intimate, and vivid. With more releases planned in the coming months, they’re poised to leave a lasting impression. For now, ‘Bannatyne’ offers a soft-focus introduction to a duo unafraid to document the growing pains of becoming.
