Sons Of The East return with soulful new single ‘Rescue Me’
Australian folk trio Sons Of The East have unveiled their latest single, ‘Rescue Me,’ the first offering from their upcoming sophomore album, SONS, set for release on June 13 via MGM.
A heartfelt plea for love’s redemptive power, ‘Rescue Me’ unfolds from an intimate acoustic beginning into a soaring anthem filled with the band’s signature harmonies. The track blends elements of folk, blues, and soul, embodying the warmth and authenticity that have defined the band’s global appeal. As the song progresses, its emotional depth is matched by an uplifting arrangement, transforming themes of heartbreak into an expression of hope.
The band’s Nic Johnston shares:
“This tune actually came about from a jam we had ages ago — one we kept coming back to over the years. The very first voice memo of it is absolute chaos, with one of us singing ‘how out of time are we’ as the opening line, which didn’t fit at all. We ended up recording two complete versions before we finally captured the energy we were chasing. Like so many of our songs, even though it hints at heartbreak, it’s really an upbeat, hopeful song.”
