Somebody’s Child returns with ‘Irish Goodbye,’ the latest single from their upcoming album When Youth Fades Away, set for release on March 28 via Frenchkiss Records.

Named after the act of leaving a social gathering without notice, ‘Irish Goodbye’ reimagines this concept on a personal level, portraying an adult looking back with regret at how easily they let go of their childhood. The track is a stark meditation on nostalgia, self-reflection, and the passage of time, echoing the album’s overarching theme of coming-of-age.

Vocalist and songwriter Cian Godfrey describes the single as a defining moment within the album:

“‘Irish Goodbye’ is a breath of fresh air within the album itself and exemplifies the tone and theme of the album best, in my opinion, from a lyrical standpoint. It highlights the transient nature of time, and on some level, it perhaps describes the parting of youth, without notice, at some point, unbeknownst to us.”

As anticipation builds for When Youth Fades Away, ‘Irish Goodbye’ stands as a heartfelt reminder of how time moves forward, often without us even realizing what we’ve left behind.
