Slow Readers Club shares electrifying new single ‘Boy So Blue’

Manchester’s Slow Readers Club is kicking off 2025 with the release of their latest single, ‘Boy So Blue,’ an electrifying blend of pulsing electro-pop and introspective lyricism.
Fusing urgent electronic beats with the band’s signature emotive indie sensibilities, ‘Boy So Blue’ showcases a contrast between sonic euphoria and lyrical sorrow. The song builds on the atmospheric depth of previous singles ‘Technofear’ and ‘Animals,’ weaving a tale of emotional turmoil hidden beneath an energetic, dance-driven production. Infused with the influence of early Depeche Mode, Erasure, New Order, and LCD Soundsystem, the track marks a deliberate evolution in the band’s sound, bringing their electronic elements to the forefront.
Singer and lyricist Aaron Starkie explains:
“Although it’s a big, joyous dance track, it’s about hiding deep emotional pain and trauma and how hedonistic coping mechanisms, like drugs, alcohol, and womanizing, are just temporary distractions. They ultimately fuel a self-destructive cycle. There’s a deliberate contrast between the euphoria of the music and the melancholy of the lyrics, capturing the subject’s duality of light and darkness.”
‘Boy So Blue’ is out now on your favorite DSP.
