New Orleans musician Sleep Habits, the project of Alan Howard, returns with ‘Antique Mall,’ the first single from his upcoming EP Mourning Doves, due out May 10, 2025, via Kiln Recordings.

Blending mellow acoustic tones with warm, focused synths, ‘Antique Mall’ finds Howard reflecting on memory, change, and the emotional weight of holding onto the past. The track uses the symbolic setting of an antique mall to explore how memories shape identity, even as time moves forward. With hazy textures and spacious production, the song leans into a sense of liminality—honoring what once was while acknowledging the need to move on.

Howard reflects on ‘Antique Mall’:

“At the time I wrote this song, I was coming to terms with the fact that you can’t carry everything with you throughout your life. The physical space of the antique mall symbolizes that feeling. With that symbol as its base, the song explores allowing yourself to hold onto the reverence of memory and acknowledge how it has shaped you while letting go of the idealistic sense of the ‘good ol’ days’.”

‘Antique Mall’ is out now.
