Sextile unleashes adrenaline-fueled anthem ‘Kids’ ahead of forthcoming album
Los Angeles electronic punk duo Sextile has dropped a blistering new single, ‘Kids,’ a high-energy preview of their forthcoming album yes, please., due out May 2, 2025, via Sacred Bones.
Set against a surging techno pulse and layered with nostalgic synths, ‘Kids’ distills teenage rebellion and euphoria into a tightly wound trance-punk banger. Vocalist Melissa Scaduto delivers the final verse with electric clarity: “Have you ever watched the kids around / Have you ever felt that crazy sound / I feel that’s all we’re up against / We’ll be there once until the end.” The accompanying video, directed by Augustus Muller of Boy Harsher, zips through the chaos of city life, mirroring the song’s sense of youthful urgency.
Scaduto explains:
“The song is about being a teenager where you start to figure out who you are and feel misunderstood by your family but the feeling you get of finding your people and music for the first time that is yours. Similar to myself feeling depressed at that age then sneaking out and going to raves and shows and realizing I was gonna be alive elsewhere and the future looked hopeful rather than bleak.”
Sextile will celebrate the release with a record release party in Los Angeles on May 1, followed by an extensive headline tour across the UK and Europe, with dates spanning festivals and club venues through July.
