Scarlet Rae shares vulnerable new single ‘Bleu’
Scarlet Rae, the Los Angeles-born, Brooklyn-based musician, marks a significant moment in her career with the release of her heartfelt single ‘Bleu,’ coinciding with the announcement of her signing to Bayonet Records.
‘Bleu’ is an intimate reflection on grief, love, and the complexities of watching a loved one struggle. The song takes its title from a part of Rae’s late sister’s name, paying homage to her sibling and the emotional challenges she faced. Rae’s lyrics, delivered with a dissociative numbness, float over resonant strums and a thorny sonic backdrop of buzzy synths and AutoTune. The track, recorded at home and mixed by bassist Harry Teardrop, encapsulates raw vulnerability and emotional depth.
Rae shares:
“This is the most vulnerable song I have ever written. A reflection of pain, love, and powerlessness that comes with watching paranoia take over someone you cherish.”
‘Bleu’ is out now.
