Minneapolis-based singer and songwriter Runo plum has released her new single ‘Alley Cat,’ out today via Winspear. The track arrives just one week before her debut LP patching, produced by Lutalo, is released on November 14.

‘Alley Cat’ continues the intimate, emotionally attuned songwriting that has defined runo’s rise, blending soft-edged indie rock with warm, introspective textures. The song captures the quiet tension of social anxiety and self-awareness, supported by gentle guitar tones and a drifting, meditative outro that mirrors the song’s reflective mood.

Runo says of the track:

“Social anxiety, a neurodivergent struggle of mine! Socializing can feel like standing on the edge of a cliff. I don’t drink anymore but alcohol used to help numb that anxiety (i.e. the lyrics “browned out”). The long outro makes me feel like it’s 4am, I’m in my room laying on my back on the floor in a starfish position, and I’m astral projecting or something.”

‘Alley Cat’ is available now on all streaming platforms. patching arrives November 14 via Winspear.

We’ve covered Runo Plum previously: ‘Pond,’ ‘Halfway Up the Lawn,’ ‘Lemon Garland.’
