Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever return with expansive new single ‘Sunburned in London’
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have released their new single ‘Sunburned in London,’ marking the Australian quintet’s first new music in four years and their first release since 2022’s Endless Rooms.
The Melbourne-based band—Fran Keaney, Joe White, Marcel Tussie, and brothers Tom and Joe Russo—reintroduce themselves with a six-minute-plus track that leans into the group’s expansive instincts. Led by Tom Russo’s understated vocal, the song unfolds gradually, carried by layered, shimmering guitars and soft group harmonies, while the rhythm section keeps a steady, forward momentum. The result is a measured, immersive composition that aligns with earlier long-form highlights, such as ‘Fountain of Good Fortune’ and ‘Cars in Space.’
Discussing the song’s inspiration, Russo says:
“As a band, we have always made songs about cities. I was thinking about sensory overload and relentless beauty, and the creeping feeling in the streets that the party’s winding up and the lights are about to come on.”
‘Sunburned in London’ is available now to stream on all digital platforms, with live video streaming online.
