Robert DeLong unleashes hypnotic single ‘Somebody Watching Me’ Feat. DEANE
The track previews the deluxe edition of Playlist of DOOM: After DARK, arriving June 20 with eight new songs.
Robert DeLong returns with ‘Somebody Watching Me’ Feat. DEANE, a hypnotic and genre-warping single that teases the upcoming deluxe edition of Playlist of DOOM: After DARK, out this Friday, June 20. Anchored by pulsing electronics and an eerie, off-kilter groove, ‘Somebody Watching Me’ flips classic paranoia into obsession—not because someone is watching, but because you can’t stop watching them. The single oozes a “Daft Punk meets Michael Jackson” energy with a cynical twist, trading DeLong’s signature upbeat tones for a more brooding, late-night sound. DEANE, a longtime collaborator and producer, originated the instrumental and opening verse before the two finished the song together in a moment of creative spontaneity.
DeLong notes:
“This one is a reversal on the idea of paranoia, you feel like you’re being watched, but it’s because you can’t stop thinking about someone. It has this Daft Punk meets Michael Jackson vibe but with a disaffected, cynical twist.”
For the music video, DeLong leaned fully into DIY aesthetics.
“I filmed and edited the video myself, then brought it into a studio and ran it through a CRT TV setup, my good friend at Terraform LA set up a camera to film it, and then I performed video FX adjustments live. It gave the whole thing this raw, analog energy that is un-replicable in digital.”
